BUCHAREST – CONSTANTA – DANUBE DELTA (4h30min drive)

The Danube Delta Tour starts in Bucharest. From your hotel, we’ll take you to the city of Constanta, the main seaport of Romania. On the way, you’ll admire the Anghel Saligny Bridge, inaugurated by Carol I in 1895.

In Constanta, one of the largest cities of Romania and by far the oldest, you’ll take a walking tour and visit a Roman edifice that dates back to the 4th century. You’ll admire the monument of Ovidius (Ovid), the exiled Roman poet who lived in this area until his death. Dobrogea, the eastern part of Romania, was under Ottoman control for some 400 years. Therefore, there are a few mosques left in Dobrogea. One of them is to be found in Constanta. It was built in 1912 and inaugurated by the Romanian king, Carol I, a few years after Dobrogea ended up as part of Romania. The tour of Constanta ends with a short stroll along the beach. It is here that you’ll admire the extraordinary architecture of the Casino, once a major attraction of the Black Sea coast, but now in ruins.

On the way to the Danube Delta, you’ll stop in Mamaia, a famous Romanian resort known for its sandy beaches as well as for its crazy summer night parties.

The first day of the Danube Delta Tour ends in a traditional village.
